“Education is the movement from darkness to light” - Allan Bloom

This academic year,2022-2023 seemed more overwhelming than ever before. One could observe the mixed feelings of excitement, joy and confusion among students.

All the standard safety procedures were observed as children entered the school building. It was mandatory for the students to wear masks. This was not done solely for the purpose of hygienic protection, but also to demonstrate students’ awareness about COVID-19. After the many weeks of online learning, which was challenging for children, parents, and teachers alike, the willingness to go back to normal learning processes was amplified; everyone displayed readiness to comply with the new safety regulations set by the government.

The first lesson for all students was dedicated to sharing more information about COVID-19 and related safety regulations. Children were also introduced to their daily schedules.  Apart from academics, students also participated in numerous activities including:

  • World Book Day which was celebrated to promote the importance of reading and literature. Picture book making activity was also held for grade 2 students in all primary languages namely, Hindi, English and Marathi.

  • Several other activities like World Art Day, World Environment Day, International Yoga Day, were also organized to promote fine arts, sustainable development and holistic health among students.

  • Little crafter’s week and Know your country week grabbed the attention of every child. This provided them an insight on the diversity of Indian cultures. A fancy-dress competition was organised for grade 2 recognising the theme of “Unforgotten heroes of India”. Their innovative ideas and remarkable performances were an icing on the cake.

  • Students became a part of Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat programme where activities like Bhasha Sangam were conducted to provide multilingual exposure to students nationwide. Short dialogues consisting of hundred commonly used sentences have been designed in the 22 languages to execute this initiative. Our school chose Bengali language to practice and carry out the Bhasha Sangam activity for about 3 months.

These activities helped in creating an interactive and opportunistic environment which instilled a feeling of enthusiasm among students throughout the academic year.

We look forward to a similar and engaging learning experience for both students and teachers for the latter part of this year.
