It was hands-on and interactive activity where the students were asked to jump on the numbers in a backward direction.

Rocket making activity:

This activity was planned to teach them backward. This activity aims to develop children's counting skills and to create sequences of numbers. It provides practical opportunities for children to recite numbers in order. Kids enjoyed flying their rockets with the loud countdown and took it as a take away.

Small smaller smallest:

This activity was planned to teach our students basic mathematical concepts. Specifically, they learnt about size, their descriptive names and how things can be compared. Including teaching aids like different sizes of balls and jars also help develop the small fine motor muscles in their hands along with learning about the concept.

Long longer longest:

The activity was planned to make children enable the concept of long, longer, and longest. To explain the concept different objects related to the topic were shown to children to understand the concept. This activity made the children understand how to differentiate the objects in different form like long, longer, and longest.

Greater than, less than and equal to:

The greater and lesser concept is used for comparing two numbers. It is important that children understand how to use and represent greater than and lesser than using signs. They show us which has a higher value and are used to help children get to grips with numbers and their values.

Equal to:

Teacher made students hold books in each hand, both hands had different weights of books, then the teacher kept books of the same weight in both hands and thus they understood the concept. The concept of equal to was stressed with making students have the same amount of weight on each hand. They were given books of the same weight in both hands to assess the weights.

Ascending and Descending Order Activity on staircase:

This activity was taken to teach them about Ascending order. Teachers stuck number cards from 1 to 10 on each stair. They then encouraged students to climb the stairs one by one and say the numbers loudly. This was to make them understand the ascending order.

 Addition:

Students were asked to get the fallen leaves from the garden and then asked them to add their leaves with friends and count together.  This activity allowed children to explore in the open environment and learn in play way method

Subtraction:

The subtraction activity was taken to give a brief description in the classroom of Subtraction signs along with a few examples, to enhance their knowledge. An activity on buttoning a T-shirt was taken. Students were told to remove one button from the line and count the remaining buttons.

In this way the students were able to relate the numbers subtracted from a given number.

Students enjoyed the subtraction sums on the T-shirt placard. It was a hands-on learning method for the children.

Ordinal numbers:

This was a game for recap of ordinals. The different shapes were arranged in sequence and the children had been instructed to put the strips in front of the shapes where ordinal numbers are written.

Number line:

A number line had been made on the floor to teach the skip counts. Children jumped as per the given count and learnt the topic with self-experience. (DIY)

Offline Education is the original method of teaching where students and teachers have face-to-face interactions while learning. No wonder, online classes have gained significant popularity but nothing can replace the holistic approach of offline classes that has been happening for decades. It is the best mode of learning and helps students learn at a faster pace with a well-planned schedule to follow. The teachers are now able to analyse every student’s learning techniques and behavioural patterns. They keep a hawk-eye on each student and monitor the responses and address them when needed.

There was a minimal distraction in the offline teaching and learning process. They had more clarity to their doubts and gained a better understanding of all the topics. It was good to see more interaction and engagement happening during the learning process and the students getting more engaged in classroom activities. The students got a chance to do hands-on practice of certain topics. There were various activities that were conducted to enhance each topic and make learning more enjoyable.

French fries’ Activity:

Vowels are the glue that stick words together! A few things we do when we talk about a vowel, Sing the vowel song, we use our fingers and say etc. but this time we came up with an exciting methodology to teach students “Word family” consisting vowels in three letter words, where student needs to read the word written on French fries and place the fries in the correct vowel box. This enhanced their reading and comprehension skill.

Rhyming Words:

Developing a child's phonological awareness is an important part of developing a reader. To enhance the phonological awareness of a student teacher made a board game “I can rhyme” as teaching aid for rhyming words. Students enjoyed the game thoroughly and it helped in developing children's skills and understanding of rhyme.

Diagraphs:

A magic bag was used to teach digraphs. Teacher had already hidden the digraph in the bag, she then explained students the rule of digraph, then the teacher spelled the magical words and a whole new digraph came out of the magic bag.

Pinwheel Activity:

Pinwheel activity was taken to make the kids aware of different kinds of digraphs and identify them. Teachers gave students a pinwheel. They were encouraged to spin the wheel and find the word from the list and put the blocks on the word. This activity helped them to identify the digraph words better.
